This first generation Viper is a
roadster model designated the
RT/10, which was produced from
1992 to 1996.
Dodge uses the RT designation as
the short term for “Rapid Transit”
and “10” represents the number of cylinders for the V10 Viper engine.
The 8.0 Liter (488 cid) V10 Viper engine produces 400 horsepower and 465 ft-lb torque.
The first Vipers used plastic side windows with zippers to seal the interior and no exterior door handles were provided. The lack of luxury accessories made the car a pure driving machine that limited desirability to only hard core high performance enthusiasts.
The exhaust side pipes were available from 1992 to 1995 with rear exit exhaust being used in later models.
Total production for the 1st Generation Viper is 6,709 cars being manufactured over 5 years.
